Outgoing US President Donald trump signed order to ban Chinese app like Alipay, WeChat Pay

US President Donald Trump has signed an order banning 8 mobile apps related to Chinese companies, including Alipay and WeChat Pay. The US administration fears that they could provide all the information about the app users to Beijing.

After banning the use of these Chinese apps in the United States, Trump said, these apps collect personal information from their users. The outgoing US president fears that the Chinese government could use it to steal the important personal information of government employees and contractors.

The President’s order will take effect in the United States in the next 45 days. But Trump will not be president until then. Trump has to hand over power to Joe Biden. A senior White House official said Trump administration had not been consulted with Biden about such an important decision on the Chinese app.

Earlier, Trump ordered Chinese company ByteDance to ban its popular app TikTok. That was rejected by the US high court. The court said that Trump was overusing his legal powers. In the recent past, downloads of these apps have increased significantly in the United States.

The US administration there thinks that about 10 million people using this app have put their personal information at risk. Apart from Alipay and WeChatPay, Camscanner, QQ Wallet, ShareIt, Tencent QQ, VMate, WPS Office also on the list.
