Brexit Trade Deal: UK-EU Free Trade Agreement


Apart from all the differences, Britain signed the historic Brexit trade agreement with the European Union (EU) just before Christmas. The decision was announced by both the European Union and the UK on Thursday. But now the parliaments of UK and EU member states have to take this decision.

For last 9 months the negotiations have been going on between UK and EU. Success after constant negotiations. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, replied: “We have finally found a way.” He also said, we have come a long and complicated journey. He congratulated the British PM on this. This agreement is in favor of the UK and it will create a solid foundation for long-term friendships.

The same tune was heard from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Boris first tweeted about the deal. “The agreement is done,” he wrote.

He later told a news conference that Britain had regained control of its borders, laws and maritime boundaries. According to him, this trade agreement is the ‘biggest’. Boris Johnson claims that In the future UK and EU duty free trade will be 660 billion pound .

After a referendum in January 2016, Britain officially left the European Union after 46 years. The UK transition period ends on 31 Dec 2020. Now Both sides had reached a post-Brexit trade deal final agreement.
