At least 20 Indians can be seen in important administrative positions in US this time. 13 of them are women. 17 people are about to get important positions inside the White House. Although 1 percent of the US population is Indian, no other government has seen so many Indians at once.

Joe Biden will take over the White House two days later. He will be sworn in as the country’s 46th president on January 20. Kamala Harris, who is about to take office as vice president, is also of Indian descent. In addition, the future president has selected several Indians for important positions. Many have nominated them. After taking the oath, it will be decided whether they will get the post or not.

At the top of this list is Bonita Gupta. Biden nominated him for the position of Deputy Attorney General of the Judiciary. Uzra Jaya, a former Foreign Service officer, has been nominated as Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. Mala Adiga has been appointed as the policy director of First Lady Jill Biden. Garima Burma has been appointed Digital Director of the First Lady’s office. Indian-American Sabrina Singh has been appointed as the Deputy Press Secretary. Indian descent Vivek Murthy has been nominated as Surgeon General.

Ayesha Shah, of Kashmiri descent, has been appointed director of partnerships in the White House Department of Digital Strategy. Sameera Fazili can get the post of Deputy Director of the National Economic Council. Bharat Ramamurthy has been appointed deputy director of the White House National Economic Council.

Gautam Raghavan, who is close to Barack Obama, is also returning to the White House during Biden’s tenure. He is the Deputy Director of the Presidential Personnel Office. Binoy Reddy is getting a place in Biden’s close circle. He is getting the responsibility of writing the speech of the future president. Biden’s assistant press secretary is Vedanta Patel.

Additionally, Sonia Agarwal is one of the senior advisers in the White House Climate Policy Department. Vidur Sharma is the Policy Advisor for the White House Covid Response Team. Two women, Neha Gupta and Rima Shah, have been appointed to the White House Council.

Ali Zaidi of Pakistani descent, Sri Lankan-American Rohini Kosoglu and Bangladeshi-American Jain Siddiqui are set to enter the White House alongside Indians. However, Biden made it clear during the election campaign that the Indians were to play an important role under his tenure.
